Community guidelines for Finnly members

Our Commitment

Finnly is committed to providing a welcoming, supportive, and harassment-free community for all members. We value diversity, mutual respect, and professional collaboration. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all community members and the consequences for unacceptable behavior.

Expected Behavior

All community members are expected to:

  • Be Respectful: Treat others with courtesy, empathy, and professionalism, even when you disagree
  • Be Helpful: Share knowledge generously and support fellow members in their growth
  • Be Inclusive: Welcome members at all career stages and experience levels
  • Be Honest: Represent your credentials, experience, and capabilities accurately
  • Be Collaborative: Approach interactions with a spirit of cooperation and mutual benefit
  • Be Professional: Maintain high professional standards in all community interactions

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors will not be tolerated:

  • Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind
  • Discriminatory language or actions based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or other protected characteristics
  • Personal attacks, insults, or derogatory comments
  • Sharing confidential or proprietary client information
  • Spamming, self-promotion, or unsolicited commercial messages
  • Spreading misinformation or engaging in dishonest practices
  • Violation of others' privacy or intellectual property rights

Professional Boundaries

When sharing knowledge or advice:

  • Do not provide specific professional advice that creates a professional relationship
  • Clearly state when sharing opinions vs. professional guidance
  • Respect confidentiality and do not share client-specific details
  • Community resources are for member use only—do not redistribute externally
  • If sharing AI prompts or workflows, ensure they don't contain proprietary client information

Reporting Violations

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct:

  • Report to Moderators: Contact community moderators directly via Slack or email us
  • Provide Details: Include relevant context, screenshots, or evidence to help us investigate
  • Confidentiality: Reports will be handled confidentially and with discretion
  • No Retaliation: We prohibit retaliation against anyone who reports concerns in good faith

Consequences

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in:

  • Warning: A private conversation with moderators about the violation
  • Temporary Suspension: Temporary removal from the community
  • Permanent Ban: Permanent removal from the community without refund
  • Legal Action: In cases of illegal activity, we may involve law enforcement

The severity of consequences depends on the nature and frequency of violations. We reserve the right to take immediate action for serious violations.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • All Finnly community spaces (Slack, events, etc.)
  • Official Finnly communications
  • Representation of Finnly in public spaces
  • One-on-one interactions between members if they impact the community
